Emotions and me
God wants you to enjoy life. Your happiness is of fundamental importance to Him. In fact, this God died so that you can find true fulfilment. This is why we read, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones." - Proverbs 17:22, KJV.
One of the major problems in our world today is a lack of direction. Most people search for the missing pieces of their lives in all the wrong places. Our journey should begin within the Spiritual realms. Listen to the words of the psalmist, "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." - Psalms 37:4, KJV.
In another place we read, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee." KJV — Isaiah 12:2-6
As we have discovered, God wishes to be the completion of mankind. There is so much that He does for us - every single day. Through every fragrance, taste and birdsong tune, He dreams of reaching out to you. Jesus longs to make you smile - we are just too busy to take it in.
Mankind needs, above all else, to allow God to stabilize our emotional needs. If we allow the instability and darkness of this world to shape our feelings, we'll activate a volatile situation. People can be trusted to be fully human. No one is perfect. They will let you down. I am just as insecure, broken and weak as you.
This is why the greatness of God should become the Alpha and Omega of our happiness. The stability of Divine commitment can become the foundation of your life. Through His presence in your life, you can react to the raging torrents of humanity with a sense of certainty and hope. The star filled night skies can become your inspiration in the darkest nights.
What would happen if you could respond to hurt with encouragement; to despondency with inspiration and to dejection with love? People will always get hurt. Instead of fueling their flames with your own insecurities and pain, lift them from their self imposed dungeons of despair. Anchor your heart in Jesus and He will create in you a beacon of hope in a dying world.
Thank you for your continued support.
